	When I Open My Heart is a song A song about missing someone missing someone who has died and the desire to be with that person – now It is about feeling the love coming from someone who has passed on, to feel being surrounded with this love and to see it reflected in small, miraculous ways that the spirit of love can touch one’s heart. Whether you believe in life after death or the miracle of memory to feel connected to a loved one who has died I want to share this song with you.  I want to share this song so that you may not stand alone, so that you may reflect and feel the presence of a loved one, to appreciate just how connected one can be to this love, and more importantly to help see you through a difficult time.
	It is sung by me – only me – alone. Much like the journey when losing a loved one….

	About the Song
	Having come home from the journey of burying my father and being with my family, I was sitting in my backyard, missing him. I had been crying, wishing to talk to him, wanting to hear his voice. I lovingly remembered some of the nicer times we shared together - his laughter, his vegie jokes, the way he placed his hand on my head and ruffled my hair - when this song came to mind. A short while later, I had captured this love I felt in a song.
	My dad, Napoleon		I was so elated. I truly felt a calm in the storm of grief. I immediately wanted to share this with my family. I was not sure how. I did know my family wanted a copy of some of the scratchy recordings I had of Dad’s old cassettes. So, I set to work on creating a momento for the family, which included the song I wrote, When I Open My Heart. This took time, and with some help and encouragement I managed to create this momento and I sent this to them. But I felt I needed to share this song with others who may also appreciate this song.
	Again, I wasn’t sure how to go about doing this. My computer needed upgrading, both hardware and software. Certainly, this would help to figure out how to record and publish my songs. But, I wasn't getting any further ahead in dealing with life's computer problems. My frustrations were consuming me.
	I went and sat on my bed and said to the universe – This isn't working out! What am I to be doing? How am I to get my songs out there?  And as I sat there going through some papers, the thought came wheniopenmyheart.com This took me aback, but I thought wheniopenmyheart.com - mmmm OK - maybe I am to go a different path. Other people are doing things differently now that the internet has become a part of our world. I spoke with my husband about this. We found that this url was available. Excited, we immediately went ahead. So, here I am opening my heart to you. I am going this different path in order to share this song. This is what WhenIOpenMyHeart.com is about.

	The Songwriter Michelle Andruskievicz
		Music has always been a part of my life. Dad was in a band since high school in Grimsby, Ontario and he had several bands over the years. I can still hear him practicing. My mom sang in a choir, to the radio in the car or at home. As for me, I grew up singing in choirs, school music festivals and with siblings. I continued to sing as an adult and I love getting together with others for sing-a-longs! Songwriting started in 1998 when dealing with emotional challenges. I share my songs with friends and at a local Coffeehouse. I now live on Vancouver Island in beautiful British Columbia with my husband, where we settled to raise our family.
